Lightbringer Mod (Paladin)
« on: »
So I finally cooked up my paladin mod that I've been trying way~~~~ too long to complete, and its now at Steam workshop. I title the mod Beta coz there's still many things I would like to change like custom Icons, sound effect, character model (wardrobe), of which I still don't know how and not having enough time to research it due to life duty call. I appreciate any feedbacks from your guys coz this website has been amazing at helping me creating this mod. To remember that I know nothing about modding to finishing 1 myself, I guess I'm a bit overwhelm, as well as over ambitions a little too much  :D

Any way I hope you guys enjoy the mod.

Lightbringer Gain charge overtime, and are not affected by items

Consist of 3 Skills Trees: Might, Faith, Constitution

Many skills are buffs meant for multiplayer in mind. BUT sadly I have no one to play with, so if you guys found any bug/issue please let me know. Also Lightbringer are meant to be a Burst Damage class, meaning its amazing at killing trash mobs fast, but not sustained DPS (especially when you're playing with Synergies, I am)

All in all I'm happy with how the class is played, but feedback is always welcome.  ;) ;)

*Updates and Changelogs can be found here, as well as at STEAM workshop page [change note] section.*

@Rhythmier Congrats so much on your progress and success! Very few are able to get to this point in modding.

I wish I had more time to test mods and give Feedback... Fortunately I think I know someone who can!  :)
Calling @Sch123 to give Rhythmier feedback when you have time!  :D

UPDATE: Thanks for answering @Sch123  !! :)

At this point after playing Torchlight 2 for 8 years original and modded... ignorant of mods and now wise with compatibility... the one thing I value the most-

-is being able to have "support" from the author of any mod.

I think the only advice I can give is that you don't burn yourself out. ^_^

Hi @Rhythmier congratulations on the new class you made. :D
Hi @steffire3  I will try to play it and give Rhythmier feedback. ;)

Quick Feedback:

- The information icon overlaps with the Charge bar, maybe the size of the Charge bar can be adjusted so that it doesn't overlap with the information icon.

Suggestion:

- Maybe you can change the Animation Idle in your class, so you don't use default idle from the Engineer in starter class menu, because it makes the 1H Hammer fall too far from the hand. Maybe you can replaced with <STRING> MAINMENUIDLE: IDLE_SHIELD_MELEE

The size is right, but I think the position is a little too above. Maybe it can be aligned with the row 1 information icon. :)

By the way I like the golden armor & shield in the Lightbringer skill, it looks really cool. Is it possible that this can be applied to others, such as being made full golden armor (pants, shoes, etc.) with the golden weapon as well. :P

Hmm... I actually made it a little bit above since it was smaller now. As you've been playing, managing charge is actually part of the play style. I'll play around a little bit more to see which one I like better or if there's any other ppl commenting on it as well.

Thanks! I've actually made the boots as well but it didn't really turn out the way I wanted it to be, so in the last stage I took it out from the skill. It was definitely the plan to give the class a light shinny armor. Weapon wise I only gave 2 (or 3, but 2 of them are the same) to fit the aesthetic better. Hmm... maybe I'll just add in the boots as well, since the mesh is ready made. But no pants, it looks weird. Trust me I did it, insta delete  :D

I suggest adding Radius Skill each tier for skill "Orison & Hallowed Ground", therefore you will be able to support more your companion. :)

By the way, nice update. ;)

Hmm... increase radius for Orison and Hallowed Ground... good point, though I think hallow ground is huge enough, but orison definitely can use some range.

Will do   :-\

Hi @Rhythmier, Maybe you can also see the Skill icon and Tab icon on this WoW Paladin v2.0 (v.29) mod. Maybe it can be used for your class. ;)

@Sch123 I tried, and I failed. I don't know how to import the icon sheets. The time I did it shows grey blank sheets with a red box on the top left corner  :'(

in the UI folder there is a HUD & ICON folder, there are files. DDS &. IMAGESET that you can copy.

Then you need to convert .DDS to .PNG so you can see the icon image in GUTS.

So in the HUD & ICON folder there will be a .DDS, .PNG & .IMAGESET file.

You can convert the .DDS file to .PNG online by using this
Convert image files online - Convert image files from one format to another such as PNG to JPG, HEIC to JPG, JPG to PDF, PSD to JPG, DDS to PNG, PNG to SVG.
aconvert.com

This same method can also be used for adding icons to Characters. ;)

The Skill icon and Tab icon file from WoW Paladin, you can be seen below.
You just need to add the HUD & SKILLS Folder to the UI Folder, I hope this can help. :D

@Sch123  Wait, do I have to credit the original author for his art work? I know the icons are from WoW but the charge bar are custom made (at least a little).

I don't wanna steal someone's work if possible, though WoW's icons are exception, i guess...  ::)

Hi @Rhythmier yes if you use anyone else's work (specially artwork because its easy to see) its best to acknowledge that it came from them.
