I won't lie, I will take a long break before phase 3. In fact, if someone expresses the wish to take over the mod I'll probably let him do it, particulary if that person is @doudley (because he is awesome !).
I understand. While waiting for Phase 3, maybe I can think of some new ideas to be added to Phase 3.

I also agree with you, I also like this idea. As I have said to give Summon skills to one of the Pet like: Grave Digger (Calling Skeleton / Zombies) & Grave Robber (Digging Gold and Item).
I also really like your idea of giving "Talents" to every Pet and the ability to Grow when reaching a certain level and also opening up special abilities.
So far i think we can eliminate the Varkolyn pet unit file as the cause of the crashing. I am almost sure it's somthing in the SYnergies mod instead, but i'm still looking.

from the Varkolyn caster unit .DAT. It's referencing a file probably from it's original mod, but not present in Var Pets or vanilla.

I agree, there is something not compatible between the warlock class and the varkolyn warlock model (not the pet unit itself).

This file is in the Variant Pets mod, as it is in Synergies, TL2 essentiels, XEV pets, ... It's a file that is used for compatibility with inventory mods like big bag mod or bigger inventories. So I keep it (and the reference to it).

Regarding Pet's ideas that can summon random pets from Variant Pets "Variant Pets Dark Portal". I have a proposal to use "Minecraft Creeper" as a "Variant Pets Dark Portal". I think he is suitable for this task, because he can't attack & his name also matches "Creeper".
Another reason is because he is not yet in Variant Pet, maybe with him he will add variety to play.
@Korzeam I just wanted to inform you that the Minecraft Creeper does exist in the game with it's own self destruct animation and attack so it should be easy to implement into the Ultra Pets Mod.

@steffire3 : I know there exist in the game, but they don't really have an attack animation, just an explosion skill. Not sure it's good enough for a pet.
@Sch123 : I think a standard teleport portal with a color change would be more appropriate. I don't know if it's possible though.
It's not finished (the first 4 pets pages have been modified), but you can have a preview to what it's like. It's usable only with Variant Pets and have to be put above it.

- I'm not a big fan of Pet with a size too big, But there are some Pet that are quite suitable like the Undead Baby Dragon, although it's still a little bit too big for me. - Pet is too strong, even though I tried with Mod Synergies with Pet Elite level still too strong. - Pay attention to the Pet that flies / floats when you want to choose Pet. Most of the Pet that flies / floats is missing from the screen. Makes you not know Pet's color. - And there were also those who lost their cuteness when they were enlarged in size like the Bat Rabbit. That's what I think.
Opinion: - Maybe you can make the size not exceed the screen. - You might not need to make all the Pet to be larger in size, just Pet that would be suitable if the size is enlarged.
Can you add more color variations to the Pet that only has 1 color variations, if that can be done, I know you have said there are some pet that skin cannot be added.

Maybe it's just a problem of number. I can try this setting : +25% size +50% health +50% damage +50% armor

The answer is still the same : I can't. I've already explained why.
In the picture below you will see what I have in mind for dark portal. The main problem I have is how to design a skill that can summon a random minion. Maybe it's not possible...
