Maybe the name can be guided by how the item looks... is it a gem, a scroll, a box, some big apparatus...?

It is a small thing, the size of an mechanical alarm clock.  :)

Spoiler (hover to show)

Vitalyser - I like this name, it is simple and logical.

Hey, Kva3i,

This is not the quick setup I thought it would be.  I'll get it done, but don't expect it too soon  ;D

And... Vitalyser it is.

Do not worry about it.  I am willing to wait as long as necessary. :)
Most important thing for me that this item is possible to do. New mechanics are always difficult to implement.

This is a single-use item right? So you get it as a quest reward? Very rare drop?

What if it was not single-use, like if you can "recharge" it somehow?

Yup, it is a rare item. Also it can be crafted.

I do not know how to realize this.  :) As I remember, "rechargeable items" can not be created. The only possibility - to do it as part of the inventory/UI, like spells/Charge Bar.
If I learn how to generate items directly into the inventory, I add "Discharged Vitalayser".

I know I can remove an item from your pack, but changing its state... well, it might be possible but I don't know yet.

So, Kva3i...

I have the UI working as intended except there are some issues that seem to be hardcoded.

1) **** and Normal modes seem to be hardcoded in that...
  a) Resurrect options are not available in **** mode.
  b) **** death is not available to players in Normal mode.

I can't do anything about **** characters.  The Vitalyser won't work for them unless someone can find a flag to make the resurrect options available in **** mode (this would be GREAT).

For Normal characters we could concoct some really severe punishments, but I'm not sure how to make them perma-dead, or if we even can.  Again, if someone could figure out how to make **** death work for Normal characters, this would be GREAT.

[EDIT AGAIN]

Still nothing for **** characters, but...

I could set a stat on a 'dead' (no Vitalyser) character that would trigger a passive skill that would kill the character every time they started the game.  Then they'd get the 'you are dead' screen that only allows them to exit to the main menu.  Dead enough?

Well, our journey has never been easy.  :)

Sounds great. I even had the idea to do something like "Purgatory" or "Valhalla" - a place where characters respawns after death.  :D

Give me a warp name for Purgatory or Valhalla and I'll send them your dead people.

No, do something simple like your suggestion above.  :) "Purgatory" - it's just an idea that occurred to me after your posts. I do not have a full concept of what it is and how it works. This idea has great potential - it can be as "Hall of fallen heroes" or a new dungeon with quests (for example: "Find a way to go back"), storyline and other stuff. Someday I'll think about it.  :)

My 'simple' solution is turning out to be incredibly frustrating.

I have no idea why but the DEAD stat is mysteriously applying to characters.

First, I thought it was the UI.  I thought the Stat Operator was operating even when it shouldn't.

Second, I tried making it apply via a triggerable that only fires when the character dies.  Level 1 characters were spawning into game dead.

I'm boggled as to why the stat is getting set when it isn't called for.  Anyone have any idea why this is?
