Hi @Korzeam

I found something interesting, can you see this Torchlight 2 Remastered, it looks like there are some changed. If there is a good Pet or Skin Pet maybe you can add it to Variant Pet. ;) Like skin on Panther, Direwolf, Werewolf, Tarantula.

The Pet Construct, when he ran it's looked like he slid across the surface. Is that normal?
 :D

Ive seen that also in other pet mods. It has to do with the balance between the RUN_SPEED and the RUN_ANIM_MULT (or something like that) settings in the DAT of the unit. Can be fixed by trial-and-error

I just wanted to ask you, are you going to adopt the idea of a Mod Pet Shop that will make you have more than 1 pet for Variant Pet?.

Because there are Advantages & Disadvantages when using that Mod.

Advantages

  • You can have extra strength to take with you
  • Additional items that can be brought by pet
  • You will not feel lonely (just a joke). :P

  • You can only have 1 of each pet. I know, I know. But, the way it is scripted, each pet on screen has to be unique. There are 14 right now. I may make an exception for Cat lady. She needs to have like 10 cats around her at all times.

- I have an idea to add "Pet Flying Shield". Animation can be taken from the Pet Navi / Flying Book (Gusting Grimoire). Why use animated Flying Book Gusting Grimoire, because on the pet it has a cool animation when he was attacked. Unlike pet Flying Book Lofty Libram that does not have that animation.

I think this is an interesting idea, especially if Phase 3 is given "Talent" Block & Reflect attack. :D

You can use existing Shield Models from some Mod (It seems to be on Essential / Synergies) like:
  • Otak's Talon (Code: Trash_S_BONE_SHIELD)
  • Vyrax's Visage (Code: Trash_S_SHIELD1) "I like this one" :P
- Add "Pet Flying Sword" from Cursed Sword. If I'm not mistaken there is a Monster like that, when you try to open the Treasure Box suddenly out the Flying Sword monster attack you.

You can see on Unlock All Spells Mod (Summon Enchanted Flame Sword)

- And also add "Pet Shade" from Estherian Shade. It would be nice on Phase 3 if he has talent he can only be attacked with elemental attacks.

- And some other variation of "Pet Goblin". I really like the "Goblin Demolitionist" who can attack by throwing bombs.

Note:

Can you add the animated Flying Book Gusting Grimoire when he was attacked on a pet Flying Book Lofty Libram that did not have that animation. :)

Looks like sparkling when he is attacked, and there is also a sound effect that sounds like a clash of weapons. It is very nice. ;)

I downloaded the latest version of Variant Pet.
I see you add some new Skin & Pet like Arcanine, etc. :o
There is one new pet that can not use Spell "Pet Pangolin".

Quick answers @Sch123 :

- For multi-pets it's a no, that's not I want for this mod.

- For shield and weapon pets I won't do it. The way the game implement it is to use a model that is actually invisible but is wearing a weapon. As I've already said I don't want pets to carry weapons for compatibility issues.

- Ok For the Estherian Shade, I've included it.

I've just uploaded a new version.
Features :

- Pet shop in each town
- Synergies compatibility (no doubles)
- New pets (including the mana guardian and estherian shade)
- A few new appearances
- Fix for Guardian of the Wild multishot
- Fix for spells issue for Ravager,  Felstalker , Pangolin
- The damage of each pet has been rebalanced (see the excel file)

I'm getting close to the end !
I still have to :

- Recheck everything
- Fix a few pets that have a wrong running cadency
- Fix the pets that are too noisy

For the last item, can you help me @Sch123 to make a list of noisy pets ?
And can you also check the compability with some popular mods ?

Quick feedback for damage of each pet has been re-balanced:

- I think there are some Pets that need to be re-adjusted, like Pet "Desert Flyer" I think he has an attack too big for a small flying pet and can move fast.

Note:

- I will do some other test. ;)

- Please add some skin from Torchlight 2 Remastered



- Are you going to provide Pet Information when we choose Pet?
- After Phase 1 & 2 finished, are you going straight to Phase 3?

Bad news, I get crash when trying to change the Pet with the Fish in Pet Shop Variant Pet. :'( Uncertain, but I suspect:

*I tried it by using with other Mod & also by just using Mod Variant Pet

Crashes when I just use Variant Pet Mod

- Too much change Pet with fish can cause Crash. Even if you are not lucky you will crash on the first fish :(
- When I use the code to call the fish I want, sometimes the pet from the code I call can not pick up the items on the ground. Like: Bandit, Bat, Salamander, etc.

- Lack of compatible with other Mods, such as the Synergies, Essential Mod, etc which also has its own Pet fish or same Pet. Because I get crash when trying the same fish that exist on both mod's. Sometimes also the other Pet like: Dark Zealot, Chibi miku, Roachling, Ratlin, etc.

Note:
- I suggest to Save the game first before using Fish. :)

The good news is, if you play without using Fish, there will not be a crash. :D

Not much.
I can't reproduce your crash issue with variant pets only.
I've noticed some files in TL2 Essentials that can conflict with VP, I'll have to rename a few pets in my mod.
I've started to implement new pets based on regular monsters.
And I'll definitely take a break before starting phase 3.

Yeah, One of them is Pet Velociraptor which disappears from the starter pet menu when we use Essential mod.

Do you get to four mods, because I can not get all just some of mod until I use a different Mod Downloader. Or maybe because this mod uses chinese language.
