New Effects: Misfire and Haywire
« on: »
Haha!  I've done it!

Okay, this is a teaser/boast.  For LoE I just got done implementing a new combat mechanic and a new debuff, Misfire and Haywire, respectively.

Misfire gives a chance for your pistol, shotgonne, tech item (e.g. grenades) or tech skill (e.g. I dunno yet) to cause misfortune to you, the caster/bearer.  These effects include being lit on fire, knocked back, stunned, slowed, having your weapon jammed (-aspd) or just shooting yourself in the foot (damage).  The chance your weapon/skill/item will misfire is mitigated by your Intelligence stat.  The negative effects may sometimes need to be removed, which can be done with a repair kit.

Haywire is a negative effect that causes your skills/items/weapons to misfire much more often.  It will probably be used extensively by tree-loving druids and snobby mages.  It will be possible to remove it by using a skill or spell (probably one skill in a tech tree).

So misfire is your own misfortune while haywire is a skill that can be cast on you?

That sounds like it would tons-o-fun specially in PVP! :D

Sounds impressive. Moreover, you can add a critical miss.  :)
