I've been doing a lot of work around getting new meshes and rigs into torchlight 2 properly animated using blender 3d and a few plug ins. I'm wanting to create a guide so other people can do the same thing without going through as much pain. There can be quite a bit of setup involved depending on what you are trying to do.
Initially, I was just planning on making a guide for adding new npcs, pets, and player characters. But I was chatting on discord with
@Kva3imoda last night and it was suggested I have something simpler as a starting point.
I do plan on creating some template blender projects for sharing as well.
So my question is, what do people want from a guide?
Kva's suggestion was how to start with make animated weapon. This would be a weapon mesh, that is rigged to it's own skeleton, and has an idle animation.
I was thinking of showing how to transfer and customize animations from the player classes to a Ponya since the Ponya has a similar skeleton structure.
Or I could show how to transfer animations to a model from outside the game that doesn't have the same skeleton structure. I might be open to suggestions on which model to use for the tutorial. As long as there isn't a licensing issue.
For each tutorial I make, I will show the workflow I use to export from blender to the ogre format and get it into guts.
I'll start with written tutorials and make videos once I'm further along.
Enough of my wall of text, what would be useful in a animating for torchlight with blender guide?
