I would like to ask if it is possible for the Torchmodders to make a mod that allows two Shields to be equipped and used as Dual wielding melee weapons?
It would significantly increase build options if such a mod could be added to Skills Expansion and other mods!
Imagine if we had new skills that enhanced Dual Shielding attacks?

How does damage work? Will the DPS be based on the armor and how does the status change? Is it a "Weapon" or something specific like a "sword" that is also a "shield"? Will socket gems be treated as armor or weapon type?
Basically can two shields use certain weapon skills or will they be limited?

for the player to handle the item correctly it has to be a weapon unittype, so the native damage would be like a weapon. damage based on armor values could be set-up via a skill.
The weapon unittype probably needs to be a new one (the one in the example is "mace") so that skills for this unittype don't get confused

You can make a skill that behaves differently if 1 or 2 shields are equipped via statwatchers.
at this time I don't know if i can commit to make the skills for this item. But I would like to finish the meshes for this unittype (the orientation of the shields in the players hands needs to be changed somewhat) in the near future.
Since Shields are now Maces- how will this affect the skills of Shield Bash and Fire Shield in the Aegis tree?
If those skills require a shield, they will not fire with this unittype item. But you could also modify those skills so that they would include this new unittype as well

General item affixes will work regardless of unittype, so you can still place any such affix on these items and they will work as normal

hey Ether, can these mesh-converted maces be set-up with unittype "dwshield" (for instance) which is a child of unittype "shield", so they could be used with a skill that "requires a shield"? Any guidance would be much appreciated!
