Any progress with other hosts or something? If not I’d appreciate a visual bar that is filling up, helps to reach the final goal I guess.

Hi lolesch. Welcome back.
I haven't looked at any other hosts, but I will most likely downgrade our plan with the current host to lower the cost. And I haven't gotten around to setting up a visual indicator for the donation progress. So if anyone as a suggestion to one we can use, which will work here, that would be great.
As of now, including your donation we're up to $145 ish, so we're getting close. (The dollar is at a lower rate than the Euro.)

We need a way to get funds for the hosting spread out through the year, and a nice way to visually represent it and our target sum, here on the forum. If anyone knows of solution for this, please let me know.

The simplest solution I can think of, would be an additional widget somewhere in the right-sidebar of the forums—possibly duplicated as a block of text on the main page.
I would recommend something that allows you to display a percentage based on two values (current funding, and annual hosting cost), and simply hand-edit those two base-values whenever you recieve a donation.
Anything more automatic than that is likely to be seriously frustrating.
