Trouble with summons
« on: »
Is there a way to get a summon to cast a skill when the player casts a skill?

1:1 skills like If I perform a fireball, the summon casts fireball (At the target I'm targeting if that's possible).

Update: Got it to work, in its special way.

Using the range options on the aura skill to apply a stat on the monster that I can turn off an on works to cast the skill
The targeting may have to do with cast on target like phan suggests, maybe tweak the timeline in the layout.

Summons are weird though, I'm trying to figure out why they don't see the player as an ally, but they can see the player's unittype (pet inheritance maybe?), don't think it matters much atm though.

More testing needed  :D

Hi Josh! Firstly, welcome to Torchmodders!

Off the top of my head I might try making the skill also hit your summon in addition to the primary target, then have that hit on your summon trigger another skill with a CASTFROMTARGET setting, so it'll look like it came from the summon.

I took a quick look through the wiki fr anything on CASTFROMTARGET and came up with this.  It's not directly applicable to your planned outcome, but it might point you more in the right direction on how to use the setting.

Having said all that, I want to say I'm not the strongest modder here for skill-crafting and it would be good if you could hear from the others too.

Or you can drop in to the TM discord where there's a better chance of getting someone to add ideas more quickly.  You should see the link to the discord in the right-hand fold-out panel, just under the old shoutbox.
