Camera ==> 1st Person (dialogues)
« on: »
This is expanding on one of the ideas in my last post.

So, I'm looking to find a way for dialogues to zoom into 1st person, instead of just hovering behind / above your character's shoulder.

I found if I adjust the MIN DOLLY DIS setting in local_settings.txt down to 5 (from the default 10), it almost does what I want, in that it zooms into your character's space, and your character disappears... and then once dialogue ends, camera zooms back out to its previous / normal distance.

Only problem is that when it zooms in, the camera level is at waist height, so it looks like your viewing the vendor / questgiver from your character's navel.   :D

So the question is, does anyone know of a setting that would control the point which the camera is anchored at?  If I could just find a way to raise this up by a couple feet or so, it would be perfect.

I saw some mention of a camera mod over at Runic, that let you zoom around and choose all sorts of crazy angles (including from deep underground), so I'm hoping there is something we could tweak to make this happen.   :-\

Two other possibilities I thought of:

1) if there is no way of adjusting the camera elevation, is there a way of changing the proximity (to the camera) at which your character fades out, e.g. if it currently fades your character when the camera closes to within distance 5, can it be expanded to "fade when camera is within distance 10", or something along those lines?

2) if #1 isn't feasible, could it be modded so that your character just auto-fades anytime a quest or vendor dialogue starts, and then reverts once the dialogue ends?  That combined with the basic "zoom to MIN DOLLY DIS / revert once dialogue ends" feature should do the trick if nothing else works.
