Comments and suggestions for the forum categories can be discussed here.
Any comments on the current structure? I'd also like some feedback on the board names and wording in the descriptions.

Hi Wolven. I actually like the way you have it set-up now. The categories and their groupings are correct.
Am just thinking - the moment people start discussing modding techniques or posting tutorials in the "Modding" main forum, I'm afraid the wiki will become redundant.
It may not be as black-and-white as I'm about to say, but to keep it simple (for admin and for the users) my POV is we should choose just one platform to use for building/storing the knowledge base...
the wiki platform, with the capability to support (actually, to encourage) discussions about the articles,
OR
the forum platform, with the capability to support tagging of posts/threads for easy searchability and/or meta-organization.
Just my opinions here :P

I agree with you on keeping one knowledge base and I think the wiki is the best location for this. I also share your view on keeping things simple. I just find it a bit strange that a modding community should not facilitate/allow for modding discussions in its forums.
I'm thinking this:
A wiki does best what a wiki does best. Comments in a wiki are fine, but for discussions a forum does best what a forum does best.
This community is partially (50%) about centralizing Torchlight modding information. Thus any active and knowledgeable participant here, should by nature be interested in populating our wiki.
We could make a policy saying: All tutorials/guides/etc must be written in the wiki. The boards are just for discussions.
If we do not have a proper place to ask and discuss different aspects of modding, we might miss valuable information. Yes we will probably have to copy information from the forums to the wiki, but hopefully this community will actively do so, after a discussion in the forums.
I've looked into tagging of posts in phpBB , but I've not found any stable or up-to-date mod yet. I'll keep looking. I'll also look at comments in the wiki. IMHO we should have both topic tags in the forums and comments in the wiki.
Just my thoughts around this. Let's get a good discussion around this, so we can find a good solution.

Your view makes very good sense :) I also forgot that the members are supposed to get involved in building this site! I agree with you on this.

Yes, this would be the ideal. But since we will pursue both platforms, I don't think this is a "burning issue" (in other words, don't kill yourself to find these solutions asap :) )
Thanks very much Wolven!
