Will the DPS be based on the armor and how does the status change?for the player to handle the item correctly it has to be a weapon unittype, so the native damage would be like a weapon. damage based on armor values could be set-up via a skill.
(related) Is it a "Weapon" or something specific like a "sword" that is also a "shield"?

can two shields use certain weapon skills or will they be limited?You can make a skill that behaves differently if 1 or 2 shields are equipped via statwatchers.
Since Shields are now Maces- how will this affect the skills of Shield Bash and Fire Shield in the Aegis tree?If those skills require a shield, they will not fire with this unittype item. But you could also modify those skills so that they would include this new unittype as well
It would be nice to add a couple of Dual Shield specific skills into the Aegis tree in the future, yet that can wait for another time.yes i assumed we want skills specific to this unittype and that is doable :)
Will Shields as weapons have their affixes still function as intended like Knock Back Resist, Block Chance and Add Armor?General item affixes will work regardless of unittype, so you can still place any such affix on these items and they will work as normal ;)
