Title: Torchlight 1 HUD mod

I was told to come here from the Torchlight 2 forums on Steam because you guys were known for bringing torchlight 1 gameplay and etc. to torchlight 2 so my suggestion was for the torchlight 1 health/mana orbs to be transferred from torchlight 1 to TL2. Or even the entire hud? I hope this is in the right place, never used this site before. 8)

To be clear, the request is for TL2 and NA asked if anyone can make a TL1 hud mod. @Phanjam do you know who can help us with this?

Well there is definitely @lolesch but he has not been around recently. @Anarch16sync also knows UI modding well. Sir Anarch can you give us an overview? Is this something easy or hard to do? :D

@lolesch and/or @Anarch16sync: I think this mod needs the hud textures from TL2 and replace them with the textures from TL1....I could try this myself but I don't have the assets of TL1?

Hey man maybe it could be something we can collaborate on? I can supply the assets presumably because I've still got tl installed. I've never looked into them much. I wonder if the file formats are similar??

Hey guys, making a TL1 ui shouldn't be to hard, if you get the extracted media of TL1 and copy the ui .dds files and .imageset files, you can use them in guts to edit and replace the vanilla UI.

@Aherin: As long as the mod is out there, I don't mind who gets to build it but having the assets would be great.
Yes I do and not just for me, anyone who is interested can benefit from the archived TL1 resource files! ;)
Hey doudley. Im just not comfortable sharing it publicly, because its not my work. It belongs to someone else and i believe i should be careful when sharing the work of others.
Also, its a big archive (1+ GB) :P so i'll share you the UI stuff first...

Hi NA! It depends on what doudley and you agree upon really ;)
I can't speak for doudley, but in some cases around here modders will help out because the mod idea looks like it will be "fun to do / learn from", not necessarily because they want to release it as their mod. For me, this "TL1 HUD idea" is one such case and anyone interested will kinda pitch-in here and there until it's done.
But the real aim of this place is, at the end of all that, hopefully you'd have picked up more modding know-how as well so, if you wanted to, you could start making mods too :)

It would be cool to learn how to use the GUTS system. I might look up how to use it later and try to make something sometime. I'm sorry for the uncreative (not applicable) name because I just learned of this site but thanks for the info.

Hey guys, has someone started working on this? If nobody has started to work on it, I can try to get my hands on making the mod, at least the bottom bar of the HUD, the inventory and other things can be a bit harder.

Hey Anarch! So far i am interested to help on this and i think doudley is too (but i'll let him confirm :P ). Im not a UI guy but i was thinking, if any of the GUI elements just need to be restyled in the TL1 look, i can do that ;)

Well, if we want a full UI mod, then we are for some work, since the way TL1 and TL2 handled the UI seems to be different, and no that compatible. The bottom hub bar is an easy piece but everything else will take some more work to adapt. I'll work on the bottom bar and see what troubles I find on the way.

Assuming it's possible/easy enough to move the left / right fly-out panel elements around, I'm going to try and re-style those panels to look like the TL1 style. But I'll probably only have time for this by the weekend though . . .

It's very different from TL2, the automap is the only easy part to work with. :(
I'm working on my own TL2 HUD modifications, maybe this project can help me improve mine.

:D And that's only the easy part to do, you haven't check the inventory, character, quest and other pages. I'm almost finished with the quickslots and the health&mana orbs, only need to add the Character, invetory, pet and other buttons, and It'll be ready. But I'll be smaller than in TL1 since otherwise it clips over the chargebar.
Edit: Well, the extra buttons are in other layout for the hub... This is what i got, if I change the scale of the bar, I need to rezise everything and move it by hand... I'm too lazy for that.

As I understand it, this is UI from the alpha TL2. It has a style similar TL1.

Nice find @Kva3imoda, I already knew of those files, but I'm getting enough experience with UI to make a HUD mod with those, also there is really little footage of that early state of the game to see how all the UI was. Also the bottom bar has some empty spaces that I have no idea what to use for ::)
And about and alpha version... I guess the only ones that can have that are Runic employees, since from closed beta the game was using the present HUD. :(

Currently, the bottom HUD is done but it seems the Health and Mana globes toggle have been removed....I wonder if this alpha phase bottom HUD can be implemented too along with the TL1's.
I'm thinking, rather than removing the globes switch from center to sides, we use that function to toggle from alpha phase to TL1 and vice versa! :D
Luckily this switch is in a form of static stat, the "UI STYLE" stat. I think it can be manipulated to anything we desire.
