Before I begin, I wanted to thank @Phanjam for introducing me to this site and somehow trying to introduce me too with the community, although I failed to get the hints early on, so for that I'm sorry. Sadly I just lack the skills to be social in general.
I also want to point out that this is my first time seeing this portion of the forums, I'm kind of unfocused when it comes to these things. :P
At first, I was anxious to post anything here at Torchmodders' forums, seeing all the known names of TL2 modders is a bit overwhelming. But the longer I browse here, the better I'm recognizing familiar names at RGF, like @gytfunke for one, looking back to my RGF's posts I happened to interact with him for his query. I wouldn't have guessed that he'll become an epic dev/modder for TL2! It's an exciting feeling but at the same time makes me feel ancient. :D
It's kind of true though, I was able to play TL2 back in 2012, few weeks of its release because I'm a big fan of TL1. What I didn't know back then that modding TL2, was going to be the game for me. Best thing happened too because till now, mods are still unbounded and I'm still able to contribute some.
I did a few mods back then too and I was supposed to share them at Runic's official forum but making an account there prohibits me on my intentions. That's why I made RGF my home instead. Now, I got Steam Workshop and this collaborative group of unique individuals, the Torchmodders. I couldn't be more grateful.
So yeah, I'm Doudley and hello everyone!

Haha! Here's a commemorative "Welcome!" to the forums as well doudley! ;P
But really, welcome! It's an honor to have you here and I hope you find this place fun for your modding adventures!
P.S. I doubt that anyone is more ancient than me in terms of physical age around here! :D

Thank you Phanjam, I'm sure it will! :)
I hope that I speak for everyone in saying that your invigorating spirit what drives us to participate and be more productive on our works.

Hehe, ive heard that a few times :) i cant help very much with modding, so i just try to encourage eveyone else :D
-
Modding is fun indeed, encouragement can go a long mile when it comes to creation, making your ideas into something that can be shared to everyone and be well received is so much rewarding but there are some sadness too involved into putting your work in public. I for one don't mind that my works be explored or be used on other mods but knowing that someone else is tackling the same concept that you already published is a little disheartening.
-
Welcome @doudley!
Modding is a game in itself and one I have spent over 1500 hours (probably more) modding for TL2... it can be very rewarding indeed. Glad you are on board, I like what you have done so far, so keep it up. Don't be too disheartened about other people doing or working on the same thing. There will be people who prefer your mod over the other and visa versa. Choices are good to have.
@Phanjam
P.S. I doubt that anyone is more ancient than me in terms of physical age around here! :D
Ha, I am not exactly a spring chicken myself. Sooooooooooooo how old are you hahaha ?

;D I know right! TL2 became creatives playground and the game is very inviting for it.

??? You do?! That means a lot! I mean I'm just another modder for TL2, didn't make the big leagues just like you guys! Making reimagination of the game's mechanics and stuff! I don't even have to see your works to know that they are brilliant, just by looking at your logo
(http://i.imgur.com/1Ydl48u.jpg)
and it is what the main title say!
Me, I tackle on trivial things...small unnoticeable stuff. When I first browse through TL2 game's data, I see lots of engineer skills that are unknown to public and I made the Added Skills for Engineer mod, published December 2012. I also found out that there are unused spells, that's why I made the Unlock All Spells (former Unlocked Spells) mod published June 2013, bringing 10 more spells for players to play around with! :D
(It's not really all spells, I didn't worked on Charm Ball spell)
And what I'm most proud of are my character to pet modifications, seeing most modders work on custom classes and enhancement skills/equipment, it feels like pets are being undermined that's why I focused on them and made my two Brother-in-Arms (former Humans as Pets) mod.
Choices are good to have.
You're right, thank you for mentioning it and very thank you for welcoming me, I'm not sure what I can contribute along with you guys but I sure feel lucky just being here :)

yo. i made that logo for RNF a looooong time ago XD
and welcome :D
(also hi guys, long time no see :P)
oh and i see that you like pets, i created an entire class dedicated to them lol check it out
i loaded it with lots of tricky and complex mechanics, if you can extract the mod file and peek inside i think you will learn lots.

Yup! I think pet/companion system is the very asset that is unique with Torchlight games and should be given focused to. Thank you for the offer, I'll sure try to learn from it! :D
Also, if you ever finalized that class maybe I can build a warbound version of it?
*Warbound is the term I use for companions (other than the starting pet) that are equippable
Because by the looks of it and LAO's logo, you are obviously an artist and I assume your justification regards the game's standard has been implemented to your works. :D
P.S. I can't help smiling every time I read your name, reminds me of Toph calling at Aang (Nickelodeon's Avatar)

wew ty
and yep, my name is from avatar lol and i do art well xD
i learned how to do vfx and particles through TL2 and GUTS :D

Thanks again @TwinkleToes ! :)

I am 54 and proud of it :D !
@doudley yes pls don't be disheartened about people working on similar ideas to yours! For me, that's a sign that the time for that idea is near ;) !
Part of the aim of this site is to provide a "home" for mods which are waiting for their time to come. Great ideas are everywhere, we cannot expect to be the only ones who come up with them. But as humans we easily get tired, or bored, or have to do other things first (and modding is always 2nd place to real life).
Good ideas which needed to be put aside for a while can wait here, at Torchmodders, for that one or two or seven modders who will finally bring it to reality ;D So if you see anything that looks familiar like an idea of yours, pls do pick it up and examine it. Add it to your work, or add your touch to it. Either way, the whole community wins 8)

Wow Phanjam, that's a very nice sentiment and stating your age just makes it more profound. Thank you so much! :)
I agree with you completely. So far, I haven't much looked around the forums yet, hopefully there's something that might catch my pique. I'm on board to contribute, looking forward to make my time worthwhile for others and at the same time I could learn from everyone a thing or two about collaborations.
All in all, it goes to say:
Either way, the whole community wins 8)
;D
Can't thank you enough for giving us more than a little of your time.

Take your time, no rush ;) the first reason to come here should be to have fun anyway!

This logo of awesomeness is waaaaaaaaaay beyond my art skills. @TwinkleToes as he mentioned, was the creator for the logo. He created it a few years back when I developed LAO 2.0.

@RnF I just want to say before I miss my chance to be able to, your work on the LAO series have been far beyond just merely addons...and I mean that on an outrageously fantastic way! These mods are not your typical better vanilla experience...you guys expounded the TL2 gameplay to another level...breaking the limitation of what TL2 could offer by its known extent and at same time respecting its ground rules like the optimum level 100. If we are talking about paintings, I would say LAO III is becoming the hyper-realism of TL2.
I also like to mention, I can't get enough of the Blue and Red pill in your Dexterity Damage! :D

Ha a bunch of old fogies on here!

@doudley Thanks for the very kind words! This is one of things that keeps me modding TL2. It just makes the modding worthwhile, even if it's only a few people who enjoy my mods now, since not too many people play TL2 anymore, but a few is enough!
The LAO series did start out as an addon mod with the original. Mainly just adding items and not changing much of anything else. With LAO 2.0 I added a ton of weapons but also tried to address some issues. I didn't balance/test it as much as I probably should have. But that mod certainly has it's place, I am surprised by how many people use that mod still. I am not entirely happy with that version of my mod series since it creates some very over powered items compared to the difficulty of the game... however it lead me to make LAO III which I am really happy with so far. It takes a much more balanced approach but still trying to add a ton of content/items. So your comment about LAO III becoming the "hyper-realism" of TL2 is really good for me to hear. That is pretty much what I was going for with the mod, so I am still on target at least haha. I am not done either, have some cool stuff coming down the pipeline!
The red and blue pill idea came from @gytfunke when he was kind enough to make a side mod for another mod I was working on. I thought it was brilliant as well! So not my idea, but a really good one!
Which brings up one the best things about modding TL2, it's the modders themselves, without such an amazing group of people my LAO mods (or any of my mods) would not be what they are today. I have had a lot of help, some directly and some indirectly as I read forums such as this one. It is simply awesome.
EDIT: Also need to shout out to the TL2 Developers for leaving the door so wide open on being able to mod the game, thank you!
-
@RnF Don't mention it man. It's just my actual reaction to your works, I didn't had the chance to check on other mods back then, I'm seeing most mods now for the very first time...although I've seen LAO before on Steam, getting popular and all that but didn't able to try it. Now, you briefed me on its progression, interesting story indeed, thank you very much for sharing!

I totally agree with you. Cheers to TL2 devs and modders!!
