Title: Class: Myrmidon
Post by: Epoch on August 18, 2014, 04:51:02 pm
Charge system: Hubris
Whenever a God skill is used, hubris is generated. As hubris increases, your hero gains additional benefits offensively and defensively. If hubris reaches max, your character is penalized and weakened drastically for one minute. Hubris does not decay over time but there is an innate % chance on killing enemies to reduce your hubris.
Lore: In Greek Mythology, Nemesis was the spirit of divine retribution against those who succumb to hubris (arrogance before the deities).

Skill Trees:

Offensive
Focused around moving quickly.
Marathon- Runs in target direction. The speed at which you run increases the longer you hold this skill down. Once the run is terminated, the next 6-20 attacks will have their damage and speed increased by the distance you have run.
Arrogance- Toggle. Damage and attack speed are increased by move speed. Increases fumble chance by 25% and mana costs by 10%.
Vital strike- Has a chance to apply random status effects to targets (bleed, stun, blind, slow, reduce dmg, etc.).
Annihilate- Leap attack and stun. Damage increases the more run speed you have. Chance on kill to reset cooldown.
Charge- Dash attack that knocks enemies back. Increases damage the more run speed you have. Increases run speed for each unit killed.
Impale- Crit chance and crit damage increased massively for this attack. If enemy is killed, increases move speed for a short duration.
Wrath of titans- Toggle. Grow in size. Drastically increase physical damage and armor penetration. Every unit killed further increases the benefit of this ability while toggled on. Reduces armor and block by 25% and increases mana costs by 10%.
Passives
Praxis- Increases move speed modified by dexterity.  Chance on hit to increase dodge for a short duration.
Heartseeker- Reduces fumble chance. Increase crit damage bonus. Chance on crit for an additional attack.
Might of Achilles- Dexterity now modifies damage and armor penetration. Increases damage by the number of enemies within proximity.

Defensive
Focused around defense as offense.
Vengeance - Shield attack that deals damage modified by block and armor. Absorbs target's armor (stackable).
Perseverance- Timed. Adds trigger when crit, increase life regen and dodge (stackable).
Courage- Timed. Chance on hit to increase all armor and status resistances for a short duration (stackable).
Paragon - Toggle. Increases your damage by your armor. On block, increases your move speed for a short duration. Reduces crit chance and crit damage by 25% and increases mana costs by 10%.
Bulwark- Timed. Increases your block. On block, stuns enemy. Chance when hit to increase your armor for a short duration (stackable).
Radiance- Toggle. Adds trigger that on block, blinds enemies around you and deals aoe damage modified by block. Reduces move speed 10% and increases mana cost of other skills 10%.
Phalanx- Toggle. Increases physical armor and block. Adds missile reflect. Slows move speed 25% and increases mana cost of other skills10%. Grants a chance on block to counter attack and break enemy's shield.
Passives
Unstoppable- When hit, has a chance to increases physical armor for a short duration. Stackable. When hit, and below 15% life, increases health regen and dodge.
Veteran- Armor, max health and health regen are modified by Strength
Aegis- Armor types now modify DR of their corresponding types.

Gods
All God skills consume hp
Blessing of Artemis - 1 minute buff. Increases attack speed by 2-30%. Chance when crit to summon 1-5 hawks for 4-10 seconds that will attack enemies and attempt to blind them.
Blessing of Ares -  1 minute buff. Adds physical damage 1-15 and increases physical damage by 2-30%. Chance on kill to permanently increase the damage bonus of this skill.
Blessing of Athena - Charge up skill. Adds a damage absorbing shield and increases armor modified by how long charged up.
Blessing of Hephaestus - 1 minute buff. Adds fire damage 20-90 and increases fire damage 2-30%. Adds a chance on hit to explode the area with fire and knock enemies back.
Blessing of Poseidon - 1 minute buff. Adds ice damage 20-90 and increases ice damage by 2-30%. Adds a chance on hit to summon a whirlpool that stuns enemies around you and explodes after a few seconds, dealing additional damage.
Blessing of Hades - 1 minute buff. Adds 20-90 magical damage and increases magical damage 2-30%. Adds a chance on kill to resurrect a fallen myrmidon to assist you for 16-30 seconds. The Myrmidon gains new skills every 5 skill points invested.
Blessing of Zeus - 1 minute buff. Adds 20-90 electric damage and increases electric damage 2-30%. Adds a chance on block to summon a storm of lightning around you.
Passives
Blessing of Kratos - Attacks steal damage, crit chance, and crit damage from enemies. Stackable.
Blessing of Thanatos - % chance to perform a fatal blow to targets below a certain life %. Targets killed by this are resurrected to fight for you.
Blessing of Persephone - Harvests the souls from enemies slain. Grants +10 to your total hp and +1 to your total mana every 450-100 enemies slain (amount decreases as you invest points).

Changes I've performed:

Replaced Spear Throw with Marathon to bring the skills more in line with the theme of the tree.
Changed the function of Blessing of Persephone.
Changing the function of all the Blessings of the Gods. They will now be 1 minute buffs that will still cost health. They will provide a basic function (increase attack speed, increase block, etc) that will also involve a trigger that will perform a godlike ability. Example: Blessing of Poseidon will increase block. Chance on block to summon a whirlpool beneath you that pulls enemies to you, stuns them, deals damage over time, and after a few seconds the pool will explode dealing even more damage.

More changes to come.

Thanks buddy. I'm glad to be back.

I've been trucking along on the Blessings of the Gods recently. Almost all of them are complete (with the exception of particles). Once I finish these skills I'll do some play testing of my own for balance purposes and then probably upload the mod to Steam with just this class released so far.

One thing I'm lacking, and I feel as though I do not have the skills to manage, is designing the starting armor for this class. This is what I'd like to make it look like (minus the cape and cloak):

Hi Epoch!  I think I've got the right silhouette with this armor mash-up...

Spoiler (hover to show)

Textures will be completely redone of course.

This is using armor pieces which already exist in the game, so if the silhouette isn't to your liking, the pieces can be switched with others to achieve (close to) whatever you want.

Just let me know what you'd like changed ;)

EDIT:
hmm, the boots look too blocky... will look for a sleeker pair...

Yeah. I think eventually I'll try and get the sash and belt stuff removed.

Looks pretty cool!

Opinions of this armor? From Diablo II, called Silks of the Victor. Maybe a Legendary/Mythical Armor?

Edited for clearer copy...

Yeah, those look pretty cool.

Here's some armor I was working on before I took my hiatus. It's all pretty much rip-offs of Smite.

The helmet I got attached just fine, but my skills at attaching boots and legs to the skeleton weren't good enough to complete those.

NP @Epoch ! feels good to do something I can actually finish in good form LOL!

Very nice models from Smite there!  Am pretty sure Kva could get those attached for you right quick ;)

Hi @Bill Hartman ! Did you want this set-up too, from existing armors?

Hi @Bill Hartman ! Did you want this set-up too, from existing armors?

Anything you guys are willing to do to help out is greatly appreciated. I really want to get this project moving forward again and can acknowledge that I just don't have all the skills necessary to do everything myself or release anything in a timely fashion. Bill and I have been putting together some pretty amazing ideas for boss encounters and map layouts.

Any help I can get from you and Kva (or anyone else interested) will help produce an amazing mod. Another area I could use a hand with is particle effects. As hard as I try, I just can't produce great looking particles or make them work as I desire.

Heyya Epoch, that's what this site is for ;) I'm only any good with textures and maybe writing stuff; I'll help out there as much as I can.

Texture help is something I'd greatly appreciate as I have absolutely no talent using photoshop. There is a massive amount of armor I'd like to texture to fit the theme of the mod and I'd like to retexture the items from Smite once I finish making changes to them (so that they are not exact replicas and fit my theme more).
Title: Re: Class: Myrmidon
Post by: Epoch on March 22, 2015, 08:08:07 pm
Everything is finished except the changes I'm making for the skill Bulwark and the final adjustments for Blessing of Hades.
I'm still deciding how I want Bulwark to operate and what exactly will happen as a trigger for Blessing of Hades. Tomorrow night I should have a final decision and an operating test version without particles or starting armor.

Hi Phanjam, I am indeed working with Epoch. Anything you would like to do to assist would be welcome. If you could transfer the silks of the victor to Torchlight II would be appreciated. Focus on your content first...

Have a good one, Phanjam, and thanks!

Happy to help on this Epoch!  Just for a bird's eye view, how many is "a massive amount"? :D and is it already mashed-up (from existing TL2 armors) or does that need to be done still?

Oha nd HI! @TwinkleToes good to see you again ;)

You guys are the best. How did i ever take a hiatus from such a wonderful community?

By massive i was more referring to the varieties i have planned in my head and a few retexturings of some things i already have ready (i just need to modify the models some more first). Once i get my son down for his nap in a little bit, I may be able to polish off the last parts of the skills and get everything up for testing and feedback purposes.

Sometimes skills seem great ideas in my head hut other people's inputs and opinions will show where i have room for improvement.

I'll also take any advice and help on anything. I learned last time that attempting to do a mod this large alone results in getting burned out quick. There's just too much to accomplish for just 1 person.

Oh another thing I'd like to request from someone with talent is a stylish charge bar. Maybe a sword/shield combo or some scales (not the reptilian kind).

I have uploaded a very early version. It's currently only visible to my Steam friends. If you want to check it out, please add me on Steam. My user name is Epoch and the icon for me is the ninja icon from the FE expansion.

The characters are naked, some particles are missing/placeholders, skills aren't balanced, some skills need 1 or 2 more things completed, icons needs more work, etc. Don't expect too much as of right now.
The file also contains the systems for item level-ups. If you desire to reverse engineer this, please add me so you can grab the mod.

If you type thor_hammer in the console it will drop mjolnir for you to see how it operates. The amounts required to lvl it up are set very low right now so ppl can give it a look. All the triggers are in the trigger folder under new_items i think.

No need to apologize or worry about doing anything asap. I really appreciate any little bit anyone is willing to do and don't want to pressure anyone with anything. I was worried I may have been doing something incorrect when trying to apply the female model. At least now we all get to enjoy watching the female character run around naked for a while longer!

Oh a bit of feedback. So I started a Myrmidon and I saw I had the Marathon skill straightaway.  It has a mana-cost per sec of 5, but my mana pool was at 1.  Is this the intended design?

And the starting Gladius had a damage of 4.  Also intended?
Title: Re: Class: Myrmidon
Post by: Epoch on March 29, 2015, 09:38:56 am
Thanks for the armor!

Phan, I totally forgot the class started with 0 focus. This was from previously where I was trying to replace the mana bubble with stamina and make all the skills cost stamina. Marathon also shouldn't be the first skill in the tree and the starting Gladius shouldn't be that terrible. I'll fix these issues and publish a new version. Also, if you're interested in doing another retexture, the starting gladius and shield could use a better appearance.

Thanks for playing it so I can figure out more issues I've been overlooking!

Korzeam from Steam is willing to make new Classes or Merge Class Trees into new Classes as he has already asked me about the Inwarder Project which I gladly agreed to let him and await his reply.

He made the Elemental Brute in case anyone wants to see his previous mod work.

I don't know if the original author would permit Korzeam the permission to the Myrmidon's files however we could ask Korzeam to make a similar Greek Class with similar Skill Sets.

Wow, if he's willing to do it I'm very happy to hear that, especially if he's willing to create a new unique class / similar class.
So there is no misunderstanding with other creators.  :)

Would you also make a weapon for this Myrmidon class (Lancer: "Polearm Weapon that can be used with one hand")? as in this picture (http://torchmodders.com/forums/mythos-public-board/class-myrmidon/msg1835/#msg1835)

Or will you give special treatment for this class so he can use the 2H Melee Weapon with one hand as long as the other hand holds a shield. ;D
Title: Re: Class: Myrmidon
Post by: Epoch on July 13, 2018, 09:56:04 pm
Before I was overwhelmed with daddy-duty, no one discovered a method for equipping a 2H weapon in 1H that didn't involve creating a new 1H weapon and using the 2H model for it, but this mod already has a new unittype for Spear (1-hand) and a couple models. Things may have changed - I'm still navigating and figuring this all out again.

On a side note, I think I'm going to completely redo the skill tree setup for this class. I'm debating whether to break the skill tabs into: Active, Passive, & Olympians. Prolly would increase the active and passive tabs to 12 skills each, but I dunno yet.

Has anyone developed/improved on the item level-up stuff I had started in this mod? Interested to see whether I should continue testing those limitations.
