Title: Destructable Shield... for Players?
Post by: gytfunke on November 07, 2014, 08:34:15 am
Has anyone gotten the Destructable Shield effect to work for players?  This is the effect used on tanky monsters that sport a shield, like the Sturmbeorn Warmakers.  I have had no luck with this so far.

I kinda remember a thread on forums.runic, someone trying to add "wear" (as in getting worn out) to weapons as you use it. His idea IIRC was that the weapon would lose damage as it got worn out and youd have to repair it somehow.

Might be a useable principle for player shield-break. Will try to find the thread.

Hey PJ!

I was less interested in making players' shields break than I was in the fact that the effect is directional.  In vanilla TL2, you can block attacks even if they're hitting you from behind.  However, enemies with shields can be hit from behind to prevent them from blocking.  I wish I could get that effect for players, but I can't seem to figure it out.

Maybe a "shield skill" that does the DR (replacing a shield's armor value), but only in a small cone right in front of the player?
