Title: GUTS with GYT
Post by: gytfunke on September 30, 2014, 02:13:01 pm
So, I've started recording my modding sessions.  These are not tutorials, but they might be helpful to someone.

You can find them here (http://youtu.be/1RZ-HguCSj8).

Slowly figuring out how to make them better quality.  Any advice would be welcome.

@Phanjam

Here's a tutorial for using the PMPE 2.0

nice vids gyt, one thing im curious about,
after skimming through the videos,
is why you publish the mod then play tl2 directly to test stuff out, instead of exiting GUTS then going back on and using the in game testing tool(the big play button on the top left corner)?

oh yea on the monster skill video, there is an easier way to give skills to a unit instead of enabling one you could just set the skill to level 0 then use the set skill level set up, as seen in the embermages thunder locus and berserkers battle standard to give incrementing levels, this allows you to use a single monster file and a single layout to summon monsters and modify their skills on each level up saving you heaps of time

I knew you'd know how to do that, TwinkleToes!  I was messing about with it in the last few minutes before I had to rush to work today and found another way to do it, but your method is easier.  Since there were only 2 possible skill levels, I used a StatWatcher to disable use of the skill until the affix (applied only at level 15) added 1 to the stat.  I'll probably leave it that way because it's functional and I'd rather get the rest of the Destro skills done, but...

for future summoning skills I will definitely use that method.

As for why I package and open TL2... I guess it boils down to habit.  Back when I was getting accustomed to GUTS I was using a different computer which couldn't run the in-game tester properly.  I suppose it would be somewhat faster to use the tetser.  It might shave a minute off of loading times compared to packing and loading TL2.

yea i know a bunch of stuff in GUTS especially with making skills, i just need to spill it out lol.. but i suck at making tutorials,
the ingame testing in GUTS should work fine for you, since you can record without FPS lag, your comp should be powerful enough to handle it

Was watching your tut where you were working with the Shadow Armor skill.

At some points it felt like you wanted to say "WTF was Phan thinking?!!" but were just being polite :D I kept laughing (with embarrasment) while watching it!

No, not really.  You should see the videos I DON'T post of me flailing around screwing shizzy up.  Actually no, I don't post those.  They're uh... not educational.   :D

And I remember what my first custom class looked like.  I had to recreate most of the skills two or three times.  It also took me 9 months to get it barely functional.
